India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ Vision: Dhankhar Emphasizes Peace and Maritime Strength
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar recently emphasized the crucial role of peace and national security in achieving India’s goal of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed nation) by 2047. Addressing a gathering at Mormugao Port in Goa, he highlighted the need for a strong and secure nation to foster economic growth and development.
Dhankhar stated that economic progress is impossible in the presence of war or conflict. He underlined the importance of a robust national security posture, built on unwavering commitment to nationalism and preparedness.
Operation Sindoor: A Display of Strength
The Vice President lauded the successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ India’s swift and precise response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. He pointed to the targeted strikes on terror bases in Pakistan as a clear message to the world that terrorism would no longer go unpunished. He emphasized that the operation, conducted with restraint and adherence to international norms, served as a testament to India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and security.
Maritime Security: A Growing Priority
Dhankhar acknowledged the increasing significance of maritime security in an era of global interconnectedness. He stressed the need to uphold a rules-based order at sea and called for India to become a leader in shipbuilding to meet the rising demands of its growing economy.
Federalism in Action: Vizhinjam Port
The Vice President lauded the newly inaugurated Vizhinjam Port in Kerala as a shining example of successful federalism. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the central and state governments, along with private sector participation, which brought the project to fruition.
Tribute to the Indian Coast Guard
Dhankhar paid tribute to the Indian Coast Guard, recognizing their unwavering dedication and sacrifice in safeguarding India’s maritime interests. He praised their role in protecting lives and property, combating illegal fishing and pollution, and ensuring the safety of marine ecosystems.
Projects Dedicated at Mormugao Port
During his visit to Goa, Dhankhar inaugurated and dedicated three key projects at Mormugao Port:
- A 3 MW solar power plant
- A covered dome for coal handling
- The commercial operation of two harbor mobile cranes
These projects, with a combined financial outlay of around ₹300 crore, reflect the government’s commitment to modernizing and expanding port infrastructure across India.
