India’s Operation Sindoor: A Devastating Blow to Terrorists

Satellite images released by Maxar Technologies and accessed by Reuters provide chilling visual evidence of the extensive damage inflicted on terror camps in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur and Muridke by India’s precision missile strikes. These strikes, launched in the early hours of Wednesday (May 7, 2025), were a direct response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.

Targeting Key Terror Strongholds

The strikes targeted key strongholds of two prominent terrorist organizations: Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur: A Symbol of JeM’s Power Reduced to Rubble

The before-and-after satellite images of the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, the operational headquarters of JeM, tell a story of utter devastation. In pre-strike images, the mosque and its surrounding structures appear intact. However, post-strike visuals reveal gaping holes in the mosque’s dome, widespread debris, and collapsed buildings. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army confirmed the destruction of the Markaz Subhanallah, located 100 km inside Pakistan, stating during a press briefing, “It was the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, targeted by Indian Armed Forces.”

The Markaz Subhan Allah, operational since 2015, served as the nerve center of JeM’s operations, responsible for training, indoctrination, and planning terrorist attacks. It is linked to several major terror incidents, including the Pulwama attack in February 2019.

The complex housed residences of key JeM leaders, including Maulana Masood Azhar, Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar, and Maulana Ammar. These individuals have used the facility to spread anti-India rhetoric and recruit young people into Islamic Jihad.

Markaz Taiba in Muridke: LeT’s Training Ground Crippled

Satellite imagery also reveals the aftermath of strikes on Markaz Taiba in Muridke, a hub of LeT activity. Pre-strike images show a sprawling complex with multiple buildings. Post-strike images depict extensive structural damage.

Established in 2000, Markaz Taiba is LeT’s most important training center in Pakistan. It provides arms and physical training, as well as indoctrination and radicalization for terror groups both within Pakistan and abroad. Each year, the complex enrolls around 1,000 students in various courses.

Colonel Qureshi pointed out that the complex, located 18-25 km inside Pakistan, was a key training ground for terrorists involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, including Ajmal Kasab and David Headley.

The Markaz Taiba also received funding from Osama Bin Laden, who contributed ₹1 crore to construct a mosque and a guest house within the complex.
