India Reviews Security After Pakistan Drone and Missile Attacks

New Delhi – India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held an urgent meeting with top military leaders on Friday, May 9, 2025, to assess the security situation following thwarted attacks by Pakistan on Indian military installations.
The meeting, which included the Chief of Defence Staff, Army Chief, Air Chief Marshal, Navy Chief, and Defence Secretary, focused on every aspect of the evolving security threat. This comes just a day after Pakistan attempted to target Indian military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and several other locations using missiles and drones.
Pakistan’s Recent Attempts
The Indian military successfully engaged and neutralized the Pakistani drones and missiles, effectively thwarting the attacks. This incident marks the second attempt by Pakistan to target Indian military installations in less than 24 hours.
On Thursday, Pakistan attempted to target military installations in 15 cities across northern and western India using missiles and drones. The Indian armed forces successfully foiled this attempt as well.
In response to a terror attack in Pahalgam on Wednesday, India conducted missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under Operation Sindoor.
India’s Stance
Following both incidents, Defence Minister Singh affirmed India’s unwavering commitment to protecting its sovereignty. He stated that no obstacle will prevent India from defending itself and ensuring the safety of its citizens. The Defence Ministry also reiterated India’s preparedness to defend its territory and protect its people.
