India Launches ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Response to Pahalgam Terror Attack

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that India has launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a retaliatory airstrike targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). The operation comes after the horrific April 22nd attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 25 tourists and a pony ride operator were killed by terrorists linked to a Pakistan-based terror group.

A Fitting Response to Terror

Mr. Shah, speaking on social media, expressed his pride in the country’s armed forces and reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. He stated, ‘Operation Sindoor is Bharat’s response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam. The Modi government is resolved to give a befitting response to any attack on India and its people. Bharat remains firmly committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots.’

Tri-Services Operation Targets Terror Groups

The tri-services operation involved precise strikes on nine bases across the border and the Line of Control, used by notorious terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Muhajideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Global Call for Zero Tolerance

Hours after the airstrikes, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar took to Twitter, emphasizing the need for a global stance against terrorism, stating, ‘The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.’ This echoes India’s consistent calls for a unified international effort in combating terrorism.
