Jammu Attack: Pakistani Attacks Thwarted, Air Defenses Destroyed

Operation Sindoor: India Responds to Pakistani Aggression
In a dramatic escalation of tensions, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a retaliatory strike against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. The operation, involving the Indian Air Force, targeted nine key locations believed to be used by terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), responsible for the Pahalgam attack and other cross-border terror activities.
Pakistan’s Attempts Thwarted : Jammu Attack
Indian officials confirmed that Pakistani forces attempted to carry out multiple strikes across Northern and Western India using drones and missiles overnight. These attacks targeted cities like Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. However, the Indian military successfully neutralized these threats using its Integrated Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (ICUAS).
S-400 System Deployed, Pakistan’s Air Defense Hit
The Indian Air Force deployed its S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defense missile systems to counter incoming threats. The operation resulted in the destruction of a Pakistani air defense system in Lahore.
Intelligence Reports: Over 100 Terrorists Eliminated
Intelligence sources reported that over 100 terrorists were eliminated through precision strikes conducted early Wednesday. The ongoing operation makes precise casualty assessment challenging at this time.
A Focused Response
The Defence Ministry emphasized that the operation was ‘focused, measured, and non-escalatory’. It specifically avoided any Pakistani military facilities, targeting only terrorist infrastructure. These actions were a direct response to the barbaric Pahalgam attack, where 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed.
Global Impact and Implications
The events unfolding in the region have significant implications for global security and the stability of South Asia. The situation warrants close monitoring and calls for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
