India Reaches Out to World Leaders After Pahalgam Terror Attack

India’s Diplomatic Efforts After Pahalgam Attack
Following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in April, the Indian government is embarking on a major diplomatic outreach to explain its perspective to the world. The government plans to send teams of political leaders, former diplomats, and experts to key countries across Europe, North America, West Asia, and the Global South.
Opposition Leaders Included
Interestingly, the government is reaching out to opposition leaders as well. Prominent figures like Shashi Tharoor (Congress), Ghulam Nabi Azad (former J&K CM), and Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM) are expected to be part of these diplomatic missions.
Azad’s inclusion is significant due to his strong ties to Kashmir and his understanding of the region’s complexities. Owaisi, known for his staunch stance against Pakistan, will also play a crucial role in articulating India’s position on cross-border terrorism.
Government’s Stand
The government aims to emphasize the cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. It will also explain the rationale behind Operation Sindoor, the retaliatory military operation launched against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.
Beyond the opposition, the government has also engaged with leaders from various political parties, including the Congress, Janata Dal (United), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and NCP-Pawar.
Global Outreach
These diplomatic missions will involve visits to key capitals, particularly those of India’s strategic partners. The government plans to form up to eight separate groups, each focusing on a specific region of the world. The goal is to engage with lawmakers, officials, and think tanks to build international understanding and support for India’s position
