India-Pakistan Tensions Flare Again: Operation Sindoor Still Underway

Even after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire brokered by the US, tensions remain high between the two nations. The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed on Sunday that Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation for a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, is still ongoing.

The IAF, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), emphasized that detailed information about the operation will be provided at a later date. They urged the public to avoid speculation and the spread of unverified information.

Operation Sindoor Details

The IAF highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, stating that it was carried out with precision and professionalism. The operation involved targeted strikes against nine terror camps across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Punjab province during the night of May 6-7. The use of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles was confirmed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Ceasefire Breached

Despite the ceasefire agreement, Pakistani shelling along the International Border in the Rajouri sector and Srinagar raised concerns about the fragility of the peace initiative. Indian air defense systems were activated in response to sightings of drones in the region. Reports suggest that at least four drones were shot down near the Army headquarters, with explosions heard in Srinagar and Baramulla.

Ongoing Uncertainty

The situation remains tense as Operation Sindoor continues. The future of the ceasefire and the potential for further escalation hang in the balance.
