In the Neelum Valley, Muhammed Shafi lost his wife when a mortar shell hit their home. Four days later, Umaima, his niece, emerged from a bunker to find her village reduced to rubble.
A Diplomatic Breakthrough: The Ceasefire
As tensions peaked and both sides threatened further military action, US President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire. In a stunning turn of events, he announced on social media that both countries had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire.”

The ceasefire brought a much-needed respite, but the scars of the conflict remain.
