External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has clarified that India’s Operation Sindoor, a military operation along the Line of Control, was halted only after Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) requested a ceasefire.

Addressing the Consultative Committee on External Affairs, Jaishankar emphasized that there was no involvement of the United States as a mediator between India and Pakistan during this period of heightened tension.

The minister’s statement comes in the wake of speculation surrounding the reasons behind the operation’s suspension. Some reports had suggested a possible role for the US in facilitating the de-escalation.

Jaishankar’s firm stance underscores India’s commitment to resolving border disputes with its neighbors directly and without external interference.
