Watch Ceremony Resumes After ‘Scaling Down’
The much-anticipated India-Pakistan border retreat ceremony is making a comeback. After a brief suspension, the ceremony will resume at Attari, Hussainiwala, and Sadki Joint Check Posts along the Pakistan border in Punjab from Tuesday evening (May 20, 2025). The public will be able to attend the ceremony starting Wednesday (May 21, 2025).
Changes Remain in Place
While the ceremony is returning, some changes implemented last month following the Pahalgam terror attack will remain. Notably, BSF troops will not shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts, and the gates will not be opened during the flag-lowering process as initially planned, according to BSF officials.
What Led to the Suspension?
The decision to temporarily suspend public access to the ceremony was made on May 8th, citing ‘public safety’. This move came a day after ‘Operation Sindoor’, a significant Indian operation that targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
