The relationship between India and Pakistan has taken a dangerous turn, with the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kawatra, making a bold statement: India is “at war with terrorism” backed by Pakistan. This comes amidst escalating tensions following a series of cross-border military operations.
Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam Attack
The current crisis stems from a devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists, including a Nepali national, were killed. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Ambassador Kawatra stated that the strikes were carefully aimed at those responsible for the killings and that India acted in response to “sub-human” acts.

Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan responded with military action, targeting Indian military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. In an effort to garner global support, Indian External Minister Dr S Jaishankar held urgent phone calls with world leaders, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He stressed that India is taking a “measured” response to Pakistani provocation, but the gravity of the situation is undeniable.
