India Bombs Pakistan Airbase, PM Sharif Confirms ‘Operation Sindoor’

Pakistan PM Confirms Indian Missile Strike on Nur Khan Airbase
In a stunning admission, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that India conducted a precision missile strike on the Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi and other locations. This unprecedented acknowledgment directly contradicts Pakistan’s usual practice of denying any Indian military action.
Sharif revealed that Army Chief General Asim Munir personally informed him about the attack at 2:30 am on the night of May 9-10 during a phone call. He shared this information at a special ‘Youm-e-Tashakur’ event at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad.
‘Confidence and Patriotism in General Munir’s Voice’
According to Sharif, General Munir’s voice conveyed “confidence, self-confidence, and patriotism” when he relayed the news about the Indian ballistic missiles hitting Nur Khan airbase and other areas. Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s Air Force successfully defended the country, utilizing both indigenous technology and modern Chinese-made aircraft.
Pakistan’s Initial Denial and Satellite Evidence
On May 10, Pakistan initially claimed that three of its air bases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones. Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, the Pakistan military spokesperson, held an urgent press conference where he announced that Nur Khan, Murid, and Rafiqui air bases had come under attack.
Subsequently, satellite imagery captured by Maxar Technologies revealed significant damage to multiple Pakistani air bases. These images, taken on April 25 and May 10, showed damage at Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi, PAF Base Mushaf in Sargodha, Bholari Air Base, and PAF Base Shahbaz in Jacobabad, strongly suggesting a strike had occurred.
Reactions From India
Indian political leaders, both from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT), seized upon Sharif’s admission. Amit Malviya, the BJP’s IT head, tweeted that the incident demonstrated the “scale, precision, and boldness” of India’s operation, while Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT) expressed satisfaction over the destruction of “terror airbases” under Sharif’s control.
