Houses of Suspected Terrorists Razed in Kashmir After Deadly Pahalgam Attack

Crackdown After Tragedy
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have taken a hard line against terrorism following the devastating attack in Pahalgam last month. They’ve demolished the homes of three suspected terrorists in Bandipora, Pulwama, and Shopian districts.
This brings the total number of houses razed since the April 22nd attack to nine. The attack, which took place in the scenic Baisaran meadows, killed 26 people and shocked the nation.
Sweeping Raids and Arrests
As part of a broader crackdown, security forces have conducted raids at over 500 locations across the Valley in just five days. Hundreds of people have been questioned in connection with the attack.
While the government is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice, political parties have urged them to ensure innocent people are not caught in the crossfire.
Targeted Demolitions
Among those whose homes were destroyed was Adnan Shafi from Shopian district. Officials say he joined terrorist ranks last year. The house of Amir Nazir, suspected of being an active terrorist, was also demolished in Pulwama. In Bandipora, the home of Jameel Ahmad Shergojri, suspected of being a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist since 2016, was razed.
Key Witness Emerges
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started a probe into the attack and a key witness has come forward. The NIA is looking into all aspects of the case, including the planning and execution of the attack.
