In the wake of the attack, members of the Citizens Forum held a candlelight vigil in Patna, Bihar, to honor the victims. The Indian government convened an all-party meeting to brief political leaders from across the spectrum on the actions being taken. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, assured the government of the opposition’s full support in any retaliation.

Calls for Unity and Action Against Terrorism

Leaders from various political parties united in their condemnation of the attack and their demand for strong action against terrorism and the terror camps that harbor it. While some opposition parties raised concerns about potential security lapses in Pahalgam, there was a general consensus that India must stand united against this threat. These decisions were made at a national security committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which included the country’s top civilian and military leaders.
