10 Militants Killed in Assam Rifles Firefight in Manipur’s Chandel District

Operation Launched Based on Intelligence

CHANDEL: Ten militant cadres were killed in a fierce gunfight with Assam Rifles in Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday. The incident took place near New Samtal village, a location close to the Indo-Myanmar border.

According to the Indian Army, the operation was launched after receiving specific intelligence about the movement of armed militants in the area. An Assam Rifles unit under Spear Corps was deployed to carry out the operation.

Firefight Leads to Casualties and Weapon Recovery

As the Assam Rifles troops approached New Samtal village, they were met with heavy fire from the suspected militants. The security forces responded swiftly, redeploying their troops and retaliating with measured force.

The ensuing firefight resulted in the deaths of ten militants. Authorities also recovered a significant amount of arms and ammunition from the scene.

Identities of Killed Militants Unknown

While the Ministry of Defence officially confirmed the operation and the casualties, the identities of the militants who were killed have not yet been released.
