FBI Director Condemns Deadly Terror Attack in Indian Kashmir

Tragedy Strikes Pahalgam: 26 Killed in Terror Attack
The picturesque Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, turned into a scene of horror on April 22nd when terrorists attacked, leaving 26 people dead, mostly tourists. The FBI Director, Kash Patel, swiftly condemned the attack, calling it a stark reminder of the ever-present threat of terrorism globally.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Patel expressed his deepest condolences to the victims and their families. He pledged the FBI’s unwavering support to the Indian government in its fight against terrorism. “The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government,” Patel wrote.
Escalating Tensions Between India and Pakistan
This horrific attack has further strained the already tense relationship between India and Pakistan. The perpetrators are believed to be from The Resistance Front, a group linked to the notorious Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). India has pointed a finger at Pakistan, calling this attack the deadliest in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama strike where 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives.
Following the attack, India announced a series of strong diplomatic measures against Pakistan, its most significant response since the Pulwama incident. These measures include suspending all visa services for Pakistani nationals, including medical visas, and ordering all Pakistani citizens currently in India to leave. India has also revoked visas granted under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for select categories of Pakistani nationals.
Most significantly, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a decades-old agreement that has withstood multiple wars and terror attacks. This move is expected to severely impact Pakistan’s already fragile agricultural sector.
A Call for Peace and Unity
In the wake of this tragedy, the world stands with India in condemning this act of terror. As Director Patel stated, “This is a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism. Pray for those affected.” The hope is that this horrific event will serve as a catalyst for peace and dialogue between India and Pakistan, ultimately leading to a safer and more secure future for all.
