Delhi Drenched: Heavy Rainfall Offers a Break from Scorching Heat

Delhi Feels the Refreshing Relief of Heavy Rain
Several parts of Delhi experienced a welcome downpour on Saturday, providing much-needed respite from the intense summer heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast a partly cloudy day with light rain or drizzle, aligning with the region’s current pre-monsoon weather pattern.
Temperature Dip and Humidity Levels
According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which is a slight dip below the seasonal average of 0.7 degrees. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees Celsius, typical for early May. Relative humidity stood at 65% at 8:30 am.
Comparing to Previous Day
On Friday, the city witnessed a maximum temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 25.7 degrees Celsius, slightly above the average by 0.6 degrees. Friday’s relative humidity fluctuated between 61% and 48%.
Air Quality Remains Moderate
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 179 at 9 am on Saturday, placing Delhi in the ‘moderate’ category. An AQI within the range of 101 to 200 signifies generally acceptable air quality, although sensitive individuals might experience minor discomfort.
