Delhi Airport Issues Travel Advisory Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

Delhi Airport Back to Normal Operations Despite Security Heightened
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has returned to normal operations after a period of heightened security measures due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. However, passengers are being advised to expect potential delays and longer security checks.
Airline and Security Cooperation Requested
In a recent travel advisory, the airport urged passengers to:
- Stay updated with their airlines regarding any flight schedule changes.
- Follow all hand baggage and check-in luggage regulations.
- Arrive at the airport early to allow for potential delays.
- Cooperate fully with airline and security staff for a smooth travel experience.
- Check flight status through their airline or the official Delhi Airport website.
The advisory also emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for information and avoiding the spread of unverified content.
Temporary Closures of 32 Airports
Earlier this week, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had issued Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports in Northern and Western India for civil flight operations. This closure, which commenced on May 9, 2025, and extends to May 15, 2025, is attributed to operational requirements related to the heightened security situation.
The affected airports span a wide region, including major cities like Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, and Srinagar.
Drone Sightings Raise Concerns
Adding to the tension, defense sources reported the sighting of armed drones at 26 locations along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC). These sightings, stretching from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, have raised concerns about potential threats to both civilian and military targets.
