Congress Under Fire Over ‘Gayab’ Post

The Indian National Congress is facing heat after deleting a controversial social media post that appeared to portray Prime Minister Narendra Modi as absent during a national crisis. The post, featuring a headless figurine with the caption ‘Gayab’ (missing), was quickly removed following criticism from the ruling BJP.

Party Issues Warning to Leaders

The Congress party has also issued a stern warning to its leaders, urging them to stick to a unified message on the recent Pahalgam terror attack. AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal sent a letter to party officials, emphasizing the need for discipline and consistency in public communication. Any deviation from the party line, he warned, will result in disciplinary action.

BJP Accuses Congress of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ Mindset

The BJP accused the Congress of resorting to inflammatory imagery and attempting to weaken India with the ‘Gayab’ post. BJP social media head Amit Malviya claimed the post reflected a ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ (beheading) mindset and called out the Congress for allegedly targeting Modi.

Congress Vows Unity and Responsibility

In his letter, Venugopal stressed the importance of unity, maturity, and responsibility during this challenging time. He reiterated that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) resolution on the Pahalgam attack should serve as the sole basis for all public statements.

Controversial Comments Spark Row

The controversy comes after some Congress leaders sparked outrage with their remarks on the Pahalgam attack. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Maharashtra leader Vijay Wadettiwar, and Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, questioned the need for a war with Pakistan and raised concerns about reports of the terrorists targeting non-Muslims.

Nation Mourns Pahalgam Victims

The Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, on April 22, has deeply shaken the nation.
