Congress Leader’s Comments Ignite Backlash

Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar recently sparked a major controversy with his comments on the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 innocent people lost their lives on April 22nd. Wadettiwar questioned the government’s stance, suggesting that terrorists wouldn’t have time to inquire about the victims’ religion. This statement drew immediate criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Accuses Congress of Protecting Pakistan

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla slammed Wadettiwar, accusing Congress leaders of giving Pakistan a ‘clean chit.’ He pointed out that this isn’t the first time Congress has made such statements, citing similar remarks from NCP leader Anil Deshmukh. Poonawalla highlighted the apparent inconsistency in Congress leaders’ position, claiming they condemn terrorism in public but seem to shy away from taking strong action against Pakistan.

Siddaramaiah’s ‘War Not Needed’ Comment Also Draws Fire

Adding fuel to the fire, BJP MP Sambit Patra criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his statement that India should not be in favor of war. Patra noted that Pakistani media was broadcasting Siddaramaiah’s remarks, implying a lack of support for a strong stance against terrorism. He also pointed to Karnataka’s Excise Minister, Ramappa Timmapur, who echoed Wadettiwar’s sentiments, further fueling the BJP’s accusations of Congress sympathizing with terrorists and undermining the victims’ families.
