China Demands Investigation into Pahalgam Terror Attack, Backs Pakistan
China has called for a swift and fair investigation into the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, India, and has expressed strong support for its long-time ally, Pakistan.
This comes after the attack on April 23rd, which tragically claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. The Chinese government has condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms, expressing their condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirming their opposition to all forms of terrorism.
Diplomatic Talk
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday, April 27th. During the call, Mr. Dar briefed Mr. Wang on the latest tensions between Pakistan and India following the attack in Kashmir.
Mr. Wang stressed that combating terrorism is a global responsibility and reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts. He emphasized that China understands Pakistan’s security concerns and supports its right to safeguard its sovereignty and interests.
Calls for Peace
China urged both India and Pakistan to remain calm, engage in dialogue, and work together to de-escalate the situation. Mr. Wang stated that conflict does not serve the best interests of either country or the broader region.
Mr. Dar, in turn, reassured China that Pakistan is firmly committed to fighting terrorism and preventing any actions that could escalate the situation. He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to managing the situation responsibly and maintaining communication with China and the international community.
