Celebi Aviation Takes India to Court Over ‘Vague’ National Security Concerns

NEW DELHI – A Turkish aviation firm, Celebi, has filed a lawsuit against the Indian government over the recent revocation of its security clearance. The company argues that the government’s decision, citing ‘national security’ concerns, was based on vague and unsubstantiated grounds.
Celebi Challenges Government’s Decision
Celebi Airport Services India filed the case in the Delhi high court on May 16, claiming that the government’s move would jeopardize 3,791 jobs and damage investor confidence. The company asserts that it was not given any prior warning about the potential revocation.
“Mere rhetoric of national security without elaborating upon in what manner is an entity a threat to national security is unsustainable in law,”
the company stated in its filing, which was not made public.
Celebi further criticized the government’s order for lacking specifics, stating, “The order ‘fails to disclose any specific or substantive reason except for a vague and general reference to ‘national security’… (it) provides no reasons or justification.'”
Impact on Airport Operations
The government’s decision directly impacts Celebi’s ground handling operations at nine major Indian airports
