Tragedy Strikes BSF as Manipur Constable Dies in Cross-Border Firing
The nation mourns the loss of BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who was killed in action after Pakistan initiated cross-border firing in the Jammu region on May 10. Chingakham, hailing from Manipur, was among eight BSF personnel injured in the shelling along the international border in J&K’s R.S. Pura Sector. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, leaving behind a grieving family and a heartbroken nation.
Nation Honors Chingakham’s Bravery
Both the BJP and Congress in Manipur expressed their deepest condolences to Chingakham’s family and comrades. BJP State president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi hailed Chingakham as a proud son of Manipur, whose courage and devotion reflected the unwavering spirit of the Manipuri people. She emphasized his ultimate sacrifice in bravely serving the nation.
Congress president Keisham Meghachandra echoed these sentiments, praising Chingakham’s bravery and commitment. He extended his heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, highlighting the nation’s pride in his supreme sacrifice for the motherland.

The BSF director general and all ranks also expressed their profound condolences to Chingakham’s family, mourning the loss of a dedicated and brave soldier.
