Miss England Quits Miss World Over ‘Shocking’ Ethical Concerns

Miss England Exits Miss World Pageant Over Ethical Concerns
Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has made a dramatic exit from the Miss World 2025 pageant, citing personal and ethical concerns. The 24-year-old beauty queen returned to the UK on May 16th after just nine days in Hyderabad, where the pageant is being held.
Disappointment and ‘Not Aligned With Expectations’
Magee expressed her disappointment in a statement to British tabloid, The Sun, saying the pageant environment didn’t align with her understanding of ‘beauty with a purpose’. She reportedly had issues with the pageant’s expectations for contestants, including mandatory makeup and ball gowns even during breakfast.
Allegations of Inappropriate Interactions
The Sun further alleged that contestants were asked to socialize with middle-aged men as a gesture of appreciation for their financial contributions to the event. This was reportedly the final straw for Magee, leading to her decision to leave.
Pageant Organization Responds
The Miss World Organisation, headed by Julia Morley, released a statement addressing Magee’s departure. They claimed she initially requested to leave due to a family emergency involving her mother’s health. They emphasized their commitment to her well-being and arranged her immediate return to England. The organisation strongly refuted media reports of inappropriate behavior at the pageant, calling the claims ‘false’ and ‘defamatory’.
England’s Representation Continues
Following Magee’s withdrawal, Charlotte Grant, the Miss England runner-up, has flown to Hyderabad to take her place in the competition.
