Hera Pheri 3: A Legal Dispute Erupts

Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has returned his signing amount for ‘Hera Pheri 3’, along with a 15 percent interest, amidst a growing controversy surrounding his exit from the project. This unexpected turn of events has sparked a legal battle between Rawal and the film’s makers, particularly actor Akshay Kumar, who’s also producing the film.

Why the Exit?

According to reports, Rawal’s decision to walk away from ‘Hera Pheri 3’ stemmed from disagreements over the payment structure. He was reportedly unhappy with the clause that stipulated the balance of his fee – a whopping Rs 14.89 crore – would only be paid a month after the film’s release. With the shoot scheduled for next year and the release likely in late 2026 or 2027, Rawal would have had to wait almost two years for the full payment.

Legal Ramifications

Akshay Kumar, who is fiercely protective of the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise, has taken legal action against Rawal. Pooja Tidke, a lawyer representing Kumar’s production house, stated that Rawal’s exit has caused significant financial losses to the production due to expenses incurred on the cast, crew, logistics, and even the trailer shooting. Tidke emphasized the serious legal consequences Rawal faces for his decision.

The Future of Hera Pheri 3

Rawal’s character, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, became a fan favorite in the original ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000) and its sequel, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ (2006). Now, with his departure, the fate of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ hangs in the balance.
