Diljit Dosanjh Makes History at Met Gala 2025
Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh made a splash at the Met Gala 2025, becoming the first person wearing a turban to walk the prestigious blue carpet. Diljit looked absolutely stunning in a regal ivory sherwani designed by American-Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung. He completed the look with a tehmat, a jewel-studded kirpan, and a layered necklace, all paying homage to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.
A Touch of Punjab
Diljit’s outfit was a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. His cape featured a silhouetted map of Punjab and Punjabi script embroidered on it, proudly showcasing his heritage. He even captioned his Instagram post with a line from his film ‘Chamkila,’ saying, “Main Hoon Punjab #metgala.”
ChatGPT to the Rescue
In a hilarious behind-the-scenes video by Nicole Scherzinger, Diljit is seen on his phone just before the event. When Shakira asks him what he’s up to, he confesses with a smile, “I am learning English.” Turns out, he was using ChatGPT to brush up on his language skills!
Paying Homage to a Maharaja
Diljit’s stylist revealed that she tried to borrow Maharaja Bhupinder Singh’s iconic Cartier necklace for the occasion, but it’s currently locked up in a museum. The necklace, a stunning 1,000-carat diamond piece, disappeared from India in 1948. To recreate the look, the stylist worked with an Indian jeweller to recreate a piece inspired by the original collection.
More Bollywood Stars Shine at the Met Gala
Diljit wasn’t the only Bollywood celebrity gracing the Met Gala red carpet. Shah Rukh Khan made his debut at the event, and Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas walked hand-in-hand. Kiara Advani wowed in a stunning gown by Gaurav Gupta, and Manish Malhotra also attended for the first time.
