Deepika Padukone Gets Candid About Her Challenging Pregnancy Journey

Deepika Padukone Opens Up About Her Pregnancy Journey
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone recently welcomed her first child with husband Ranveer Singh in September 2024. While the couple is clearly smitten with their daughter, Dua, Deepika has now revealed that her pregnancy was far from easy.
In a heartfelt interview with Marie Claire, Deepika shared that she experienced significant difficulties during her later months of pregnancy and even the delivery. She admitted, “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery.”
Choosing the Perfect Name
The couple took their time to choose the perfect name for their little one, waiting until after Dua’s birth to settle on the name. “I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she’s come into, allow her personality to start developing a little bit… It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us,” Deepika explained.
Navigating Parenthood in the Spotlight
As one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Deepika is well-versed in living under the public eye. She’s learned to shield herself and her family from negativity, focusing on what truly matters. Deepika hopes to give Dua a childhood free from expectations, similar to the one she experienced.
Ranveer and Deepika: A Couple in Love
Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed their daughter on September 8, 2024. Last year, they introduced Dua to the world on Diwali, sharing her name and its meaning: ‘Dua: meaning a prayer. Because she is the answer to our prayers. Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude’.
Both actors are busy with exciting upcoming projects. Ranveer has roles in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. Deepika is potentially set to star alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the film King, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Her last release was Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD.
