Pocket FM: A Platform for Human and AI Collaboration

In a world increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence, many wonder if AI will replace human creativity. Audio series platform Pocket FM has a different answer: collaboration, not competition. Instead of seeing AI as a threat to storytellers, Pocket FM sees it as a powerful tool to enhance and scale the creation of high-quality audio content.

AI as a Storytelling Partner

Vineet Singh, Head of Brand Marketing and Communication at Pocket Entertainment, told LiveMint, “We always believe that human storytelling is going to be the core part of creativity. With AI, we are going to be able to enhance it and scale it with that same quality at a huge number.”

Pocket FM’s proprietary tool allows users to write their stories, select background music, and even choose from AI-generated voices to narrate them. It can even translate stories into multiple languages and adjust the context based on the listener’s location. This technology empowers anyone to become an audio storyteller, regardless of their technical expertise.

The Numbers Speak Louder Than Words

Pocket FM boasts a remarkable 200 million users and a library of around 50,000 AI-led audio series. The platform operates on a micro-transaction model, offering a limited number of free episodes daily. Users can unlock additional episodes through paid subscriptions.

Genre Trends and Global Expansion

Romance reigns supreme as the most popular genre on Pocket FM, followed closely by drama and thrillers. However, fantasy and horror are experiencing impressive growth.

Pocket Entertainment, the parent company of Pocket FM, is expanding its horizons beyond audio series with the launch of Pocket Novel and Pocket Tools. The rebranding reflects a commitment to offering a diverse range of storytelling experiences. With its international reach extending to the USA, Germany, the UK, and plans for Latin America, Pocket FM is poised to become a global leader in audio entertainment.

Competing in a Crowded Market

Pocket FM faces stiff competition from established players like Spotify and emerging platforms like Kuku FM (backed by Krafton) and Pratilipi.
