India ‘Hit Hard and Smart’: Tharoor Praises Targeted Strikes on Pakistan Terror Camps

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, part of a parliamentary delegation on the Operation Sindoor outreach, has lauded India’s recent strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He spoke highly of the operation’s precision, calling it a ‘hard and smart’ response to Pakistan’s continued support of terrorism.
India’s ‘Precise’ and ‘Calibrated’ Strikes
During an interaction at the Indian Consulate in New York, Tharoor emphasized the meticulous nature of the operation, stating that India targeted ‘nine specific known terrorist bases, headquarters, and launchpads’ on May 7th. He pointed out that the strikes were ‘very precise and calibrated,’ demonstrating India’s capability to deliver a powerful message without escalating into a full-blown conflict.
Setting a ‘New Bottom Line’
Tharoor stressed that India’s patience with Pakistan had reached its limit. He argued that despite numerous attempts to engage Pakistan through international channels and diplomatic efforts, the country has failed to dismantle its terrorist infrastructure. He asserted that Pakistan’s persistent denial and lack of action against terror groups had left India with no choice but to take decisive action.
No Desire for War, But Preparedness to Defend
While commending the effectiveness of the strikes, Tharoor clarified that India’s intention was not to engage in a war with Pakistan. He reiterated India’s preference for peace and its focus on economic development and progress. However, he also underscored India’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national security and responding forcefully to any threats.
Pakistan’s Unstable Posture
Tharoor further highlighted the fundamental difference in India and Pakistan’s stances. He described India as a ‘status quo power’ content with its existing borders and committed to peaceful coexistence. In contrast, he painted Pakistan as a country that continues to harbor ambitions of territorial expansion and resorts to terrorism when conventional means fail. He condemned this approach and emphasized the need for Pakistan to abandon its support for terrorism.
Operation Sindoor Delegation
Tharoor’s delegation, part of the Operation Sindoor outreach, will visit five countries, including the United States, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia. The delegation comprises members from various political parties, reflecting a bipartisan approach to engaging with the international community on issues of shared concern.
