Samsung has taken a big step by starting manufacturing of its slimmest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, right here in India. This move comes after the phone’s global launch on May 13th, including in India.
Samsung is really emphasizing the slim and portable design of the Galaxy S25 Edge, making it perfect for users who want a powerful phone they can easily carry around. It’s packed with all the latest Galaxy AI features, including multimodal AI, which lets you interact with the phone using both your voice and vision in real time.
Manufacturing is taking place at Samsung’s Noida factory.
What Makes the Galaxy S25 Edge Special?
The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts the Qualcomm AI chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, ensuring top-notch performance. It’s priced between Rs 1.09 lakh and Rs 1.22 lakh, according to PTI reports.
India’s Growing Role in the Smartphone Industry
This move by Samsung highlights India’s increasing importance in the global tech scene. According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung and Apple dominated smartphone manufacturing in India in 2024, accounting for a whopping 94% of the market. Samsung even led the pack with a 20% share in terms of volume.
Nikhil Chawla, a technology and auto expert, commented, “Samsung’s initiative to manufacture the Galaxy S25 Edge in India is a significant development that reflects the country’s rising prominence in the global tech landscape, both as a manufacturing base and as a centre for innovation.”
Samsung’s market share in the Indian smartphone segment reached 17% in the March 2025 quarter, a surge attributed to its expanded portfolio. The success of the S series, particularly the S25 Ultra series, helped Samsung achieve its highest-ever share in the premium segment.
