Alongside the Existing Carens

The Clavis will be sold alongside the existing Carens MPV, which is currently available in a single entry-level Prestige (O) variant across all three engine options. Deliveries are set to begin next week.

A Fresh Face for the Family

The Carens Clavis retains the familiar MPV silhouette of the Carens family but sports a refreshed front end, redesigned alloy wheels, and Kia’s signature connected tail lamps. Inside, the layout remains largely unchanged but now features dual digital screens and a stylish blue and beige upholstery.

The Clavis can be had in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations to suit your needs.

Packed with Features

Kia has upped the ante on the feature list with the addition of level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, electric parking brake, a powered driver’s seat, and drive modes. The automaker has also expanded the functionality of its connected car system.

Powertrain Options

The Clavis offers a trio of powertrain options:

  • A 1.5-litre petrol engine churning out 113bhp and 144Nm, paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
  • The popular 1.5-litre GDi turbo-petrol engine generating 158bhp and 253Nm. This one can be had with a six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, or a seven-speed DCT.
  • A 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 113bhp and 250Nm. You can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic.

Taking on the Competition

The Carens Clavis spans a wide price range, competing with a diverse range of vehicles. At the lower and mid-spec trims, it squares off against rivals like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Hyryder. At the top end, it challenges entry-level versions of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and the Mahindra XUV700.
