Double Trouble on the Tracks: Rajdhani Express and Kathgodam Express Targeted in UP

Rajdhani Express and Kathgodam Express Targeted in Derailment Plot
In a chilling incident, authorities foiled two attempts to derail trains in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district, including a Rajdhani Express, on Monday evening. The thwarted attempts highlight a growing concern about railway safety in the region.
Wooden Blocks and a Race Against Time
Unidentified individuals tied wooden blocks to the tracks using earthing wire between Dalelnagar and Umartali stations, according to police. The plan was to disrupt the Rajdhani Express (20504), which was traveling from Delhi to Dibrugarh in Assam. The alert loco pilot spotted the obstruction and bravely applied the emergency brakes, averting disaster.
He swiftly removed the wooden blocks and alerted railway officials. In a brazen second attempt, the same group targeted the Kathgodam Express (15044), but once again, the vigilant loco pilot noticed the danger and managed to prevent a derailment.
Police Investigation and a Pattern of Concern
Superintendent Neeraj Kumar Jadaun rushed to the site and ordered a thorough investigation by the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, and local police. The Hardoi Police issued a statement confirming their commitment to uncovering all the details surrounding the incident.
This isn’t an isolated case. Earlier this month, in Jaunpur district, two individuals were arrested for plotting to derail a train by placing a steel drum on the tracks. The timely intervention of Railway Protection Force personnel foiled their attempt. This alarming trend raises serious questions about the security of train lines in Uttar Pradesh.
