Man Arrested for Alleged Spying on India for Pakistan

The Uttar Pradesh Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a man named Shehzad from Moradabad for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to the ATS, Shehzad, from the Tanda area in Rampur district, was involved in smuggling goods across the India-Pakistan border for years while secretly working for the ISI.

Accusations of Espionage and Anti-National Activities

Authorities received a tip-off about Shehzad’s activities and launched an investigation. They allege that he regularly traveled between India and Pakistan, smuggling items like cosmetics, clothes, spices, and other goods. He used these trips to gather secret information about India’s security and share it with ISI agents.

The ATS claims that Shehzad also received money from ISI agents operating in India and was involved in recruiting people from Rampur and other parts of Uttar Pradesh. These individuals were allegedly sent to Pakistan under the guise of smuggling, where they were then utilized by the ISI.

Authorities further allege that Shehzad provided Indian SIM cards to ISI operatives to aid in their spying efforts within India.

Link to Recent Arrest of Travel Blogger

This arrest comes just days after the Haryana Police arrested travel blogger Jyoti Rani for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies. Rani was accused of sharing “sensitive information” with a Pakistan High Commission official in Delhi. Both cases highlight concerns about potential espionage activities targeting India.

Charges Filed Against Shehzad

Following their investigation, the ATS filed a case against Shehzad, charging him with acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. He is currently in custody.
