Ashoka Professor Seeks Supreme Court Help After Arrest Over Patriotic Facebook Post

A professor at Ashoka University, Ali Khan Mahmudabad, is taking his fight to the Supreme Court after being arrested by the Haryana Police over a Facebook post about ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Urgent Appeal to Top Court

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Professor Mahmudabad, made an urgent plea to Chief Justice of India BR Gavai today, asking for the petition to be heard immediately.

“My Lords, a professor at Ashoka University has been charged for a completely patriotic statement on ‘Operation Sindoor’. My Lords, may I request an immediate listing,” Sibal urged the court.

Chief Justice Gavai agreed to list the case for hearing either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Police Custody for Two Days

This comes after a Magistrate yesterday remanded Professor Mahmudabad to police custody for two days.
