Bangladeshi Star Emon Achieves Historic T20 Century

Bangladesh’s Tour of UAE, 2025
Parvez Hossain Emon, a rising star in Bangladeshi cricket, has etched his name in the history books by becoming only the second Bangladeshi batsman to score a T20 International century. This remarkable feat comes after a blistering knock of 100 runs off just 53 balls against the host nation, the United Arab Emirates, in the first match of a two-game series.
Chasing a Hero’s Legacy
Growing up in Chattogram, Emon idolized veteran left-hander Tamim Iqbal, watching his aggressive style and aiming to emulate it. Iqbal stood alone as Bangladesh’s only T20I centurion, achieving the milestone against Oman back in 2016 during the ICC World Twenty20. Emon’s accomplishment not only broke new ground but also put him alongside his childhood hero.
A Power-Packed Performance
Emon’s century was a display of pure power and precision, a mix of sensational six-hitting and calculated placement. He smashed nine sixes in the innings, a feat never before seen in a T20I match by a Bangladeshi player.
Emon’s innings was a beacon of hope for Bangladesh, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled to capitalize, leading to a score of 191, despite Emon’s valiant effort.
Bangladesh Secures Victory
Despite the batting hiccups, Bangladesh’s bowlers stepped up to the challenge. Led by Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who claimed seven wickets between them, they restricted UAE to 164, securing a 27-run victory.
Looking Ahead
With a 1-0 lead in the series, Bangladesh will face UAE in the deciding second match at the same venue in Sharjah on May 19. The series offers a valuable opportunity for both teams to hone their skills and gain valuable experience ahead of upcoming international commitments.
