Pakistan Deputy PM Embarassed By Fact-Check on Fake PAF News

Pakistan Deputy PM’s Claim Debunked
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently found himself in a rather embarrassing situation when his own country’s newspaper fact-checked and debunked a false claim he made about the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) during a Senate address.
The ‘Undisputed King’ Claim
Dar had told the Senate that a report in the UK-based The Daily Telegraph claimed the PAF was the ‘undisputed king of the skies.’ This statement quickly went viral on social media. However, The Dawn, a leading Pakistani newspaper, launched an investigation through its iVerify Pakistan team and discovered the claim was completely false.
Fake News Exposed
The Dawn team found discrepancies in an image circulating since May 10, allegedly showing the front page of The Daily Telegraph with the headline. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that no such article ever appeared in the British newspaper.
BJP IT Cell Reacts
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP IT cell, criticized Dar’s statement. He called it a ‘blatant attempt to save face’ and highlighted how Pakistan’s propaganda was ‘quickly falling apart, exposing a web of lies and desperation.’
Tensions Remain High
This incident comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack which claimed 26 lives. India responded with Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists. Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling and attempted drone attacks, prompting India to launch coordinated strikes on Pakistani radar infrastructure, communication centers, and airfields. Both nations have since reached a ceasefire understanding.
