Police Issue Warning Over Tral Encounter Footage

The Awantipora Police in Kashmir have issued a strong advisory asking the public to refrain from uploading, sharing, or circulating any pictures or videos related to the recent encounter that took place at Nadar Tral.

Why the Request?

Police officials explained that sharing such content, even unintentionally, could inadvertently fuel extremist propaganda and potentially interfere with the ongoing investigation. They also expressed concern that unverified information circulating online could lead to unnecessary fear and panic.

Safety Concerns

In addition to the potential for spreading misinformation, the police reminded the public to stay away from the encounter site for their own safety. They cautioned that there may be unexploded ordnance left behind by the terrorists.

Background

The encounter that prompted the advisory took place earlier this week in Nader village, Pulwama district, where three terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in a gunfight with security forces. The slain terrorists were identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Pulwama.

Police emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining order and safety during such sensitive situations.
