India Names Pakistani Officials at Terrorist Funerals

India has made public the names of high-ranking Pakistani officials who attended the funerals of terrorists killed in its recent ‘Operation Sindoor.’ This operation, carried out on May 7th, targeted nine terror facilities across Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan itself, eliminating several key figures in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist organizations.

Indian Officials Detail Attendees

According to Indian officials, the funeral of the terrorists killed in Muridke, PoK, was led by Abdul Rauf, a senior LeT commander designated as a global terrorist by the US. Notably, the service was attended by senior Pakistani military officials, including Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain, Major General Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohd Furqan, as well as Usman Anwar, a Punjab Legislator, and Malik Sohaib Ahmed.

Operation Sindoor Targets Terror Infrastructure

Operation Sindoor struck targets in both PoK and Pakistan. In PoK, strikes were carried out in locations like Sawal Nala, Syedna Bilal, Gulpur, Barnala, and Abbas. Within Pakistan, the operation targeted facilities in Bhawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya.

India Rejects Third-Party Mediation

India has maintained its stance on direct communication with Pakistan through the Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) channel. The country has declined any involvement of third parties or back-channel talks, emphasizing its preference for established military channels for resolving conflicts.

Escalation Following Drone Attacks

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following Pakistan’s drone attacks on Indian locations. In response, India conducted targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure. On May 8th, India’s foreign secretary, Vikram Misri, stated that the Pahalgam terror attack, carried out by Pakistan, was the initial escalation, to which India responded with measured and controlled strikes on terror infrastructure.
