India Deploys 10+ Satellites for Security Amidst Border Tensions with Pakistan

India Steps Up Security with Satellite Network
Amidst escalating tensions with Pakistan, India is relying on a network of at least 10 strategically placed satellites to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. This revelation came from V. Narayanan, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), during the 5th convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University in Imphal on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Narayanan emphasized the critical role of satellites in monitoring India’s vast coastline and northern borders, stating, “Without satellite and drone technology, we can’t achieve that.” He highlighted the need for constant vigilance given the volatile situation with Pakistan.
Border Remains Relatively Calm After India’s Operation Sindoor
Following days of cross-border firing, heavy shelling, and drone attacks from Pakistan in retaliation to India’s Operation Sindoor, the situation along the border has largely calmed down. The Army reported a peaceful night on May 11-12, with no reported violations of the ceasefire agreement.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, involved targeted airstrikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). This operation was a direct response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
India’s Armed Forces have confirmed the destruction of 11 air bases within Pakistan and significant damage to their military capabilities during Operation Sindoor.
Ceasefire Agreement Briefly Held, Then Violated
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Director General Military Operations, revealed that a ceasefire was initially agreed upon between the Indian and Pakistani DGMOs. However, this agreement was violated by Pakistan only hours later, leading to further cross-border firing and drone intrusions. India responded robustly to these violations.
