GIFT Nifty, a benchmark index mirroring India’s stock market performance, surged 463.50 points, or 1.92%, to 24,553 on Monday, indicating a strong gap-up opening for Dalal Street. Analysts predict a positive start to the week, fueled by easing tensions between India and Pakistan and positive developments in the US-China trade talks.

What’s Driving the Upward Momentum?

The GIFT Nifty’s impressive jump comes after a turbulent week for Indian equities, triggered by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The announcement of a ceasefire between the two nations has instilled a sense of calm among investors, contributing to the positive sentiment.

Global markets are also reflecting optimism. Asian stocks and US equity-index futures rose as China and the US made “substantial progress” on their trade talks, easing fears of a trade war. This risk-on mode has spilled over into the Indian market, further boosting the GIFT Nifty.

Technical Outlook: Key Support Levels

Technicians are closely watching the 23,800 level, the previous breakout point, which now acts as a crucial support for the market. A breach of this level could potentially trigger further downside, with the next major support zone lying between 23,600 and 23,500. This zone coincides with the confluence of the 50DEMA, 89DEMA, and the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement of the recent upmove.
