India-Pakistan Ceasefire: Peace Deal Reached, But Border Violations Raise Concerns

India and Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire After Three Days of Hostilities
After three intense days of military skirmishes, India and Pakistan have finally reached an understanding to halt military action and firing along the border, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
According to official sources, the decision to cease hostilities was a bilateral agreement between the two nations. It’s important to note that this understanding doesn’t affect the punitive actions India has already taken against Pakistan following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
Ceasefire Violated Shortly After Announcement
However, just hours after the ceasefire was announced, reports emerged of cross-border firing from Pakistan at multiple locations along the Jammu border. A Border Security Force (BSF) official confirmed the incident, stating that “heavy firing till 7.30 p.m. was met with a commensurate response.”
Strong Response Assured
Amidst these developments, Commodore Raghu R. Nair, a military expert, reiterated India’s unwavering stance. He emphasized that every Pakistani misadventure would be met with strength and any future escalation would face a decisive response. This statement came shortly after U.S. President announced on social media that India and Pakistan had agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Furthermore, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri revealed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries had agreed to “stop all firing and military action”
