India is on fire at the Archery World Cup Stage 2! The country dominated the compound section, bringing home a stunning haul of two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Leading the charge was Madhura Dhamangaonkar, who made a triumphant return to competition after a three-year absence, securing her first-ever individual World Cup gold.

Madhura’s Magnificent Comeback

Dhamangaonkar, ranked previously due to her absence, faced off against USA’s Carson Krahe in a nail-biting final. The 24-year-old from Amravati, Maharashtra, started strong with a flawless 30, including two Xs. However, she stumbled in the second and third ends, falling behind Krahe. Undeterred, Dhamangaonkar showed incredible composure, scoring a crucial 29 in the fourth end to tie the match. In the final end, she delivered two more Xs and a 9, edging out Krahe by a single point to claim the gold. Her incredible performance wasn’t confined to the individual event. She also contributed to a silver medal in the women’s team event and a bronze in the mixed team event, showcasing her versatility and unwavering dedication.

Men’s Team Triumphs

The Indian men’s team also shone brightly, capturing gold in the team event. Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale, and Rishabh Yadav faced off against Mexico in a closely contested final. After a tight first round, India took control in the third end and held strong to secure victory.

Individual Bronze for Yadav

Yadav further added to India’s medal tally by winning bronze in the individual men’s event. He faced South Korea’s Kim Jongho in a tense shoot-off after the match ended in a tie. Yadav’s arrow landed closer to the center, securing him the bronze medal.

Looking Ahead to Los Angeles 2028

These impressive victories underscore India’s growing strength in compound archery. With compound archery set to debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, India is poised to make a splash on the world stage and finally claim its first Olympic archery medal.

Recurve Action Continues

The recurve competitions are set to conclude on Sunday, with the Indian men’s team vying for bronze and Parth Salunkhe and Deepika Kumari competing in the semifinals. The Indian archery team is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of further glory.
