Kabir’s Timeless Wisdom: Finding Truth Beyond Divisions at The Hindu Huddle
On Day 2 of The Hindu Huddle 2025, filmmaker Vipul Rikhi delved into the profound teachings of the 15th-century mystic poet, Kabir. Rikhi highlighted the remarkable relevance of Kabir’s words even 500 years later, emphasizing how his insights transcend time and cultural boundaries.
Rikhi shared a captivating doha by Kabir, illustrating the poet’s unique perspective on navigating the complexities of life. Kabir, according to Rikhi, encourages us to engage with the world, not escape it, while embracing a spirit of universal compassion. He urges us to move beyond the rigid divisions we create, recognizing the subtle truth that lies between opposing forces.
Using the analogy of a marketplace, Rikhi explained Kabir’s call to stand in the midst of life’s chaos, refusing to take sides. He likened this to accessing a higher dimension of consciousness, where differences dissolve, and wisdom emerges.
Rikhi drew parallels between Kabir’s teachings and the ancient Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. He pointed to Krishna’s guidance to Arjuna, suggesting that this too represents a journey into a realm of deeper understanding.
Rikhi emphasized that Kabir referred to this ultimate truth by various names – love, the divine, Hari, or Allah. He concluded by reciting another powerful doha by Kabir, underscoring the message that truth resides in the space between opposing perspectives, where our preconceived notions dissolve.
