Missile Exchange: India Intercepts Pakistan Missile, Pakistan Responds with Air Strikes
In a dramatic escalation of tensions, India intercepted a Pakistani missile aimed at Delhi early Saturday morning. The missile, identified as Pakistan’s Fatah-2, was shot down in Sirsa, Haryana, according to Indian government sources who spoke to News18.
India’s Counteroffensive
India retaliated by launching an air-to-surface missile strike against Pakistani targets, sources confirmed to CNBC-TV18. India’s air defense successfully thwarted Pakistani attempts to attack multiple airbases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur.
Pakistan’s Response
Pakistan has claimed its operation as ‘Bunyan Un Marsoos’. Explosions were reported at three Pakistani air bases: Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, and Murid and Rafiqi airbases. Pakistani forces intensified their air operations in response to the Indian counterstrike.
Flight Restrictions Across Northern and Western India
As a precautionary measure, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other aviation authorities have temporarily suspended all civilian flights at 32 airports across northern and western India until May 25, 2025. This includes 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions, which will remain closed to civilian traffic until 5:29 am on May 15.
Heightened Tensions
This dramatic exchange of missile strikes and air operations significantly escalates tensions between India and Pakistan. The situation remains volatile, and international observers are closely monitoring developments.
