Escalating Tensions: India-Pakistan Exchange Fire, Missiles

Fierce Exchange of Fire Across LoC
Tensions between India and Pakistan soared on Friday morning as Pakistani troops resumed firing across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting areas in Kupwara and Uri. This follows a dramatic night of heightened military activity, with Indian forces successfully thwarting multiple Pakistani attempts to strike 15 Indian cities using drones and missiles.
Thursday Night’s Drone and Missile Attacks
The Pakistani attacks, which targeted locations in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir, triggered a wave of alarm across India. Authorities sprang into action, activating defense systems, sounding sirens, and imposing a blackout in many regions. Sources indicate that an Indian F-16 fighter jet may have downed a Pakistani aircraft, though official confirmation is pending.
India’s Retaliatory Strikes
Earlier this week, India launched a decisive counter-offensive, firing 24 missiles within a 25-minute span at nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This action came in response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22nd, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people.
Ongoing Crisis
The situation remains tense and volatile as the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue their military exchanges. The world watches with apprehension as the conflict escalates, hoping for a peaceful resolution to avoid a wider regional crisis.
