Kolkata Airport Prepares for Emergencies After Flight Disruptions

Kolkata Airport on High Alert Following Flight Cancellations
Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is on high alert after 12 flights were canceled in the past 24 hours. While the airport didn’t experience any major chaos or large crowds, officials are urging passengers to confirm their flight status before heading to the airport.
Cancellations and Airport Response
The cancellations affected both departures and arrivals, impacting flights from various cities like Ghaziabad, Dhaka, Chattogram, Chandigarh, and Srinagar. Despite the disruptions, Kolkata Airport Director Dr Pravat Ranjan Beuria assured the public that they are well-prepared. He stated, “Flights have been cancelled. We conducted a mock drill yesterday. We are totally prepared. Our airport security is in place and ready to handle emergency situations.”
Travel Advisory Issued
In response to the recent developments, the Travel Agents Federation Of India (TAFI) issued a travel advisory. They acknowledged the flight schedule disruptions caused by temporary airport closures across the country and advised passengers to stay informed through official channels. TAFI also encouraged travelers to exercise caution when planning trips and to consult with tour operators or travel coordinators for any safety concerns.
The Federation expressed solidarity with the armed forces and the government’s actions against cross-border terrorism. Anil Punjabi, a National Committee member of TAFI, emphasized, “Passengers are strongly recommended to follow government advisories and consult with their tour operators or travel coordinators for any safety-related concerns.”
