Trump on India-Pakistan Tensions: ‘They’ll Figure It Out’

Trump Says India and Pakistan Will ‘Figure It Out’ Amidst Rising Tensions
US President Donald Trump offered a nonchalant take on the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, stating that the two nations will “figure it out one way or the other.” His comments came following a deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir that killed 26 civilians.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump acknowledged the long-standing conflict in the disputed region, saying, “They’ve had that fight for 1,000 years in Kashmir…there’s always been tension on that border.” He added that while the recent attack was “bad,” he believed India and Pakistan would resolve the issue.
The attack, claimed by the Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has further strained relations between the two countries. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack, a charge Pakistan denies. In response to the incident, India suspended a crucial water-sharing agreement with Pakistan, and Pakistan retaliated by closing its airspace to Indian carriers. Trade ties between the two nations are also reportedly under pressure.
While Trump expressed confidence in India and Pakistan’s ability to resolve the conflict, he didn’t confirm whether he would personally contact the leaders of either country.
The incident has caused anxiety in Indian stock markets, which initially dipped before recovering slightly as security operations intensified in Kashmir.
