India Retaliates to Pakistani Attacks, Neutralizes Air Defence System in Lahore
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated dramatically after a series of overnight attacks by Pakistan. India’s defence ministry announced on Wednesday that its armed forces had targeted air defence systems in Pakistan, including successfully neutralizing one in Lahore. This response comes in direct retaliation to Pakistani efforts to engage Indian military targets in the north and west of the country.
According to the statement, Pakistan used drones and missiles to target numerous military installations, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. These attacks were thwarted by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The Indian military says debris from the Pakistani attacks has been recovered, serving as evidence of their aggression.
The statement also highlighted increased Pakistani firing across the Line of Control, using mortars and heavy artillery in areas such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. This intensified firing has tragically resulted in the deaths of 16 people, including three women and five children.
India claims to have responded to this unprovoked firing, bringing it to a halt. Despite the escalation, the Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is reciprocated by the Pakistani military.
