25 Airports Shut Down: Flights Cancelled Due to India-Pakistan Tensions

Over 300 flights have been grounded and at least 25 airports in India remain closed following a series of missile strikes by Indian armed forces on suspected terrorist targets in Pakistan.

The attacks, launched under Operation Sindoor on the night of Tuesday-Wednesday, targeted nine terror infrastructures, including strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

Airports Closed Across Northern and Western India

The affected airports are primarily located in the northern and western regions of the country, including major cities like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, and Jodhpur. The closures are causing significant disruption to air travel.

Major Airlines Cancel Hundreds of Flights

Several airlines, including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and others, have been forced to cancel hundreds of flights to and from these affected airports.

IndiGo’s Cancellations

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, announced the cancellation of over 165 flights from various domestic airports, including Amritsar and Srinagar, until early morning on May 10th due to airspace restrictions.

Air India Group’s Cancellations

Air India and Air India Express, collectively known as the Air India Group, have cancelled around 140 flights. The airline announced the cancellation of flights to and from stations like Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 0529 hrs IST on May 10th.

SpiceJet’s Cancellations

SpiceJet also announced the cancellation of flights to and from several airports, including Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Kandla, and Amritsar, until 0529 hours of May 10th.
