Prateik Babbar: Sanjay Leela Bhansali Called When I Was in Rehab

Missed Opportunity
Actor Prateik Babbar, known for his role in the Bollywood film ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’, recently revealed that he missed out on a significant opportunity early in his career. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the renowned director, had approached Prateik for a role in his film ‘Saawariya’. However, Prateik was battling drug addiction and was in rehab at the time.
A Missed Call and Years Later
In a candid interview with Bollywood Bubble, Prateik shared that he was unaware of Bhansali’s offer because he was 18 years old and in rehab. Bhansali had called their family landline, but Prateik’s grandparents informed him about the call years later. He learned about the missed opportunity from his grandparents who told him, ‘Sanjay Leela Bhansali had called for you but you were in the hospital then’.
Facing Addiction and Its Consequences
Prateik opened up about his struggles with addiction, admitting to making ‘very bad choices’ and succumbing to alcohol and substance abuse. He explained that he had been grappling with issues since a young age and that his choices had negatively impacted both his professional and personal life. Prateik also revealed that he was expelled from Subhash Ghai’s acting school because of his drug use.
Regret and Growth
Prateik shared that he deeply regrets the pain his addiction caused his grandparents, who witnessed his struggles during those challenging years. He expressed his wish that his grandmother could have seen the person he has become today.
